Soft Fluffy Gluten-Free Chinese Steamed Buns Baozi

Enjoy these soft and fluffy gluten-free Chinese steamed buns, also known as Baozi. They are filled with your choice of savory filling and make for a delicious and satisfying snack or meal.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • Soy sauce, for dipping optional

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, combine the gluten-free all-purpose flour, baking powder, and sugar

Slowly add the warm water while stirring continuously until a dough forms

Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic

If its too sticky, you can add a little more flour

Divide the dough into small balls, about 1

5 inches in diameter

Roll out each ball into a thin circle, making sure the edges are thinner than the center

Place a spoonful of your chosen filling in the center of each circle

Fold the edges of the circle over the filling and pleat to seal, creating a round bun shape

Place each bun on a square of parchment paper

Brush the tops of the buns with vegetable oil to prevent sticking

Prepare a steamer and steam the buns over boiling water for 15-20 minutes or until they become puffy and cooked through

Serve hot with soy sauce for dipping, if desired
