Ingredients:
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup kosher salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 1 cup wood pellets flavor of your choice
- 1 whole chicken, 4-5 lbs, giblets removed
- Traeger grill cleaner
Instructions:
Mix apple cider vinegar, water, kosher salt, and baking soda in a bowl to create a cleaning solution
Remove the grates and drip pan from your Traeger smoker
Wipe down the interior surfaces of the smoker with the cleaning solution using a cloth or sponge
Clean the grates and drip pan thoroughly with Traeger grill cleaner
Rinse the interior surfaces, grates, and drip pan with water to remove any cleaning residue
Fill the hopper with 1 cup of wood pellets of your preferred flavor
Preheat the Traeger smoker to 375F 190C
While the smoker is preheating, season the whole chicken with salt and pepper
Place the seasoned chicken on the smoker grates once preheated
Smoke the chicken for 2-2
5 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165F 74C
During the last 30 minutes of smoking, add lemon slices to the smoker for additional flavor
Remove the smoked chicken from the Traeger and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving
